Dogfish Head Comes to California
To celebrate the return of Dogfish Head to the California market, founder and President Sam Calagione will be pouring 90 Minute IPA, Midas Touch, and the new Palo Santo Marron, a unfiltered 12% malty brown ale aged in wood from the Paraguayan holy tree, Palo Santo.
This event is tonight, April 14th from 6pm to 10pm, at Tony P’s Dockside Grill in Marina Del Rey.
In order to age this new beer, DFH constructed a ginormous 10,000 gallon tank, and if you’ve got an extra 10 minutes, you should check out this video that gives some cool back story. The beer uses several varietes of Warrior hops, as well as Glacier and Palisade. A couple types of malts as well, including some chocolate malt, and tying it all together with a yeast strain used for Scottish ales.
Definitely looking forward to trying this one, as well as the whole new influx of DFH that should be hitting all the best LA beer stores soon!

Oh man, I’m definitely jealous of your chance to try the Palo Santo. Can’t wait until it makes its way a little farther east. I’m looking forward to hearing a full report. Have a blast and drink one for us poor saps out here in Nashville.
Cheers,

OK, that does it. I am now a subscriber. Under the influence of the grand Maximus, tonight I decided to look at ratebeer.com’s California listings…here’s how I wound up back on your site.
I started reading about Verdugo Bar and thought “cool, will check it out”. Then I looked at the 7-11 reviews…I came across a photo and it reminded me that I entered the “the Name a LA beer Store” competition a week or so ago. I rushed on over and saw that many a geek had beat me to it.
Even more amazing: I saw Verdugo had just opened…AND that there is a Dogfish Head tasting going on as I write. And only 5 miles from here. AAARGH. Can’t make it.
As a transplanted East Coaster, I am most familiar with the Delaware brewer’s delights. In fact, a month ago I was asking about DFH @ Wally’s (my lame guess in the competition) and the resident Hophead A. told me it was on its way. Spot on, dude.
I hope he made it to Marina del Ray 2nite. Write us a lil review, maybe some of us can make it to MDR this weekend and have some Palo Santo Marron.
Cheers,
JN

Hey Dave,
Definitely let me know how it went! They’re going to be up here on Monday at Toronado and I’m conflicted because I’m supposed to be at an Allagash Meet the Brewer beer tasting in Oakland at the Trappist at the same time. A tough, but delicious, choice…
