Now On Tap: Stone Imperial Russian Stout 2008

Stone Imperial Russian Stout 2007

It’s that time of the year again. Last week Stone released one of their most beloved seasonal beers, 2008’s Russian Imperial Stout. Buy a couple bottles if you’re lucky enough to find it, this is one of those beers that vanishes off the shelves pretty quickly. Part of the reason for this is because it is great for cellaring, so people tend to buy these beers as an investment in their collection, to be enjoyed years from now.

If you haven’t started a beer cellar yet, this is an excellent choice to get the ball rolling. But if you prefer instant gratification from your beer, there are 4 places here in LA that have this fabulous beer on tap: Library Alehouse, The Daily Pint, Lucky Devil’s, and BottleRock.

This is a beer that makes you glad to live in Southern California, since we get first dibs on it. It has a huge following all over the country, and is probably more appreciated in the Northwest than it is here. If you happen to be walking down the street in Portland, it’s not unlikely to see some guy watering his lawn while sporting his prized Stone Imperial Russian Stout T-shirt.Stone Brewing Imperial Russian Stout T-Shirt

Good reminder, for some reason I neglected to pick some up when I was at Stone last week so I better get out and grab some bottles.

Hi Dave(?), thanks for shout out!

I’m really enjoying your site, I especially love the look and feel of it. The pics you have are awesome. I just subscribed so I can keep up with it. I’m also adding you to my blogroll tonight.

I was actually out in LA last April, when I helped my sister move there from Chicago. I’ll definitely be digging into your site more, as I hope to be back soon!

    Keep up the good work!

    Hey Dave,

I just got some of the Deschutes Abyss so maybe if I can get my hands on some of the Stone I’ll do a taste-off. I think I may need some help with this though since if I finished a bomber of each I’d be toasted. Also, my blog is back up and runnign and in actual blog form now, not just facebook. Please let me know what you think if you get a chance! I left the link in the website box above.

@Jason: Thanks for subscribing! Let me know next time you’re out in LA and I’ll buy you a beer. Or maybe in a few years I can break something out of my “cellar”.

@Jessica: Back up and running? You didn’t even tell me about it in the first place. I’m really glad you’re putting your notes out there on the interweb! Your facebook posts had such a limited audience. Looking forward to reading!

Wish I could help you drink that Abyss, I didn’t pick any up. I’ve got a few bottles of the Stone though… coming to LA any time soon?
