Skyscraper Brewing Anniversary Party: Saturday January 19th @ 2pm
You are invited to a place where the beer flows like wine. Where beautiful women instinctively flock, like the salmon of Capistrano. No, not Aspen. I’m talking about a little place called El Monte, California. And the beer will be flowing like water, or maybe even flowing like the oil in There Will Be Blood.
Yes, it’s been a full year since Skyscraper Brewing cut the red ribbon to much fanfare (Hey, it’s El Monte Mayor Ernie Guttierez! And is that local celebrity councilwoman Pat Wallach helping Phil cut the ribbon?!) at their Grand Opening Gala Event on January 20th, 2007.
I guarantee you’ve never had a better reason to visit El Monte. Where is El Monte, you ask? Here is a map. The brewery is right by the 10 and the 605.
It’s probably a bit of a trek, but for those of you who have never seen the inside of a brewery before, this is a great opportunity to peek behind the curtain. But don’t expect to catch a glimpse of the fabled Mad Brew Wizard of El Monte.
Instead, you will probably get to meet Phil Sutton, 32 year old head brewer and mild-mannered family man (and occasional OSHA safety code violator) who was profiled by the LA Times a few months back.
Phil is a great guy making great beer, and I’m sure he’d love to throw back a few pints with his adoring fans.
Really, how often is it that you get to drink beer straight from the brewery? It doesn’t get much fresher than that.
Lug Nut Lager and Bulldozer Honeyweizen will be pouring from the tap, and there are unconfirmed rumors that one of the last kegs of Skyscraper Winter Warmer will be tapped at this event. If you still want to try the 2007 Winter Warmer, this will probably be your last chance.
If you’re smart, you’ll get there early and bring your own pint glass. Otherwise you will probably miss out on all the great food and be stuck with a red keg cup. Come on out and help Skyscraper celebrate their first year of brewing great beer in LA!

Hey, thanks for the facebook add. I will probably see you at the Anniversary Party, I am looking forward to it. Hopefully that rumor about the Winter Warmer is true, I would love to get one last taste for this year.
